Grotta. Tu Hora, tam Grota na Dyji...

@Lechosław I graduated History at Saint Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, and I work as a Professor of History...I'm thrilled by your deep knowledge and understanding of History... To give you a quick answer: Slavic tribes (Brsjaci, Dragoviti, Smoljani, Strumjani, Velegeziti etc) came to Macedonia in big waves from 580-630 AD. Of course there where some movements before and after, but the big bulk came in this time frame... Before this time period Macedonian land was (like today 😊) settled by many ethnic groups. Majority consisted of Antique Macedonians and there was some Hellenes, Illyrians, Celts and Roman veterans...The whole land was deeply romanized and official language was latin... In other parts of Balkan like Serbia, Northern Bulgaria, Bosnia it's different... Antique name od Serbia is Mizija and in antiquity was settled with Tribali Tribes (this is Greek name). We actually don't know Tribali language just some customs...(so they are candidate for Slavic presence in the region). On the other hand Antique Macedonian language was Indo-European language like Slavic and Greek so many words are similar to Slavic or Greek (of course this is used from today's Greek or Macedonian politicians to score...😊). In the end to give you a short answer...We don't know! But certainly this is topic that is very important to be explored. Hope I help you little bit 😃

@Skopjanec Yes, you did help. It would be good to know some more about the Tribali language. Perhaps some parts of Mizija /we spell it Mezja/ spoke Slavic in antiquity, it is even more likely in regards to Pannonia and Noricum /Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia/. My guess is two major rivers of Northern Italy have Slavic core names. Po/Padus, when suffix us is cut it is Pad meaning fall, as we have wodospad/water fall/. водопад. Second Piave was Roman Plavus/Plava meaning flow or swim in Slavic. I am a graduate of Law Faculty at Warsaw University, resident of Warsaw.

@Lechosław Yes you are correct about Northern Italy. The same thing is with Greece, (and I don't mean Northern Greece with it's big Macedonian minority, but Southern Greece or Peloponnese)...for example Greek port of Volos (from the Slavic god Veles), or Peloponnese mountain Gora (you know exactly what is Gora or Hora...😊). It's because of Slavic tribes Ezerci and Milinzi at Peloponnese... The same thing is with Albania... The name of the southern Albanian town of Korca derives from the name Gorica (Hora)... etc.
